Henry Wadsworth Longfellow praised Cincinnati, Ohio, as the Queen of the West. As the nickname indicates, Cincinnati should be on every traveler’s must-visit list. While you’re there, take time to see some of the city’s most remarkable attractions.

American Sign Museum

On a visit to the American Sign Museum, you’re sure to experience at least a few blasts from the past. This museum has 20,000 square feet of exhibit space dedicated to American signs and marquees from the last 100 years. You’ll probably spot several logos that you recognize from your teenage years. Although you’re welcome to explore the extensive collection of signs on your own, you can get even more out of your experience with a guided tour. Included with admission, tours are offered once or twice a day.

Carew Tower

For an unbeatable view of the Cincinnati skyline, a trip to Carew Tower is a must. This historic building was constructed in 1930. For many years, it was Cincinnati’s tallest building. While it’s fallen to second place in terms of overall height, it’s still the best place for tourists to take in the city views. This Art Deco building, included on the National Historic Landmark registry, is home to restaurants, shops, and the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza. Carew Tower’s most popular spot, however, is the outdoor Observation Deck that’s located on the 49th floor. On a clear day, you’ll be able to see into Kentucky and Indiana.

Taft Museum of Art

Another of Cincinnati’s National Historic Landmarks is the Baum-Longworth-Sinton-Taft House, home to the Taft Museum of Art. First built in the 1820s, the house opened to the public as a museum in 1932. Today, Taft exhibits art from around the world. The collection includes paintings by Rembrandt and some of the other “old masters” of Europe. Visitors can also see sculptures, watches, furniture, and American paintings. In the adjacent Lytle Park, there’s a famous statue of Abraham Lincoln that Charles Taft gifted the city in 1917. After your visit to Taft, check out some other local Cincinnati attractions. Nearby, you’ll find the Taft Theatre, the Great American Ball Park, the Contemporary Arts Center, and the International Friendship Park.

For an unforgettable trip to Cincinnati, put these attractions on your to-do list. Their intriguing attractions and incredible views will help you develop a new appreciation for the Queen of the West.
